Student Health Service, Wellness Center, Athletic Department awarded NCAA Choices Grant
The University of St. Thomas Student Health Service and Wellness Center, in collaboration with the Athletic Department, has been awarded the 2005 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Choices Grant.
The NCAA chose the theme “Choices” because college students are confronted with a variety of choices on a daily basis, some of which have lasting effects on their lives. The NCAA believes that the programs implemented throughout the St. Thomas grant will help promote an environment that supports and encourages personal choices that are healthy, appropriate and safe.
The St. Thomas grant is titled “Choices in the Cities.” The grant will assist in facilitating campuswide collaboration and expand upon existing health promotion, research, enforcement and intervention practices to reduce problems associated with alcohol misuse and establish a healthier social normative environment on campus.
If you have questions or are interested in being involved with the implementation of the grant, contact Madonna McDermott or Birdie Ramacher.
