    St. Thomas welcomes public to November concerts, recitals

    The University of St. Thomas Music Department welcomes the public to a variety of concerts and recitals by student and faculty artists in November. All are free and take place on St. Thomas’ St. Paul campus unless otherwise indicated. For more information, call the Music Department, (651) 962-5850.

    • 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, in Brady Educational Center auditorium: Student guitarist Chris Kurkoski gives a recital.
    • 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, in Brady Educational Center auditorium: Guitarist Anthony Titus gives a faculty recital. Works by Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Torroba, Cervantes and Rodrigo are on the program.
    • 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, in Brady Educational Center auditorium: A concert by UST’s small ensembles will include performances by: Guitar Ensemble, directed by Joan Griffith; Instrumental Jazz Ensemble, directed by Jeff Rinear; African Music Ensemble, directed by Sowah Mensah; String Ensemble, directed by Tamas Strasser; Brass Choir, directed by Christopher Volpe; Saxophone Ensemble, directed by Ruben Haugen; Jazz Singers, directed by Denis Allaire; and Piano Ensemble, directed by Katherine Faricy.
    • 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, in Brady Educational Center auditorium: The St. Thomas Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will give a “preview” concert prior to their Nov. 19 performance for the fall convention of American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota. The concert will include works by Handel, Moore, Broeker, Orban and gospel musician Keith McCutcheon, as the choir sings works from the Philippines, Hungary, England and the United States.
    • 3-3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Ted Mann Concert Hall at the University of Minnesota: The UST Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, directed by Dr. Angela Broeker, are among nine choirs that successfully auditioned to open the fall convention of the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota. This is the first time that St. Thomas choirs will be represented at an ACDA event. Parents and friends are welcome; the performance is free.
    • 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, in Brady Educational Center auditorium: The Summit Avenue Collective, composed of UST students who are singers and songwriters, gives a concert.
    • 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, in Brady Educational Center auditorium: Students Heidi Schlueter, flute, and Jared Duke, bass, give a recital.
    • 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, in Brady Educational Center auditorium: Student Mark Bussey gives a guitar recital.
    • 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, in Brady Educational Center auditorium: Students Jennifer Arnold and Mary Walstead give a voice recital.
    • 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, in Brady Educational Center auditorium: Student Annie Maloney gives a voice recital.
    • 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, in Brady Educational Center auditorium: Student Maureen Degnan gives a voice recital.
