Omicron Delta Kappa
Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society, is accepting applications, which are due at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, in the Dean of Student Life Office, Room 101, Murray-Herrick Campus Center.
Omicron Delta Kappa members are selected from students who are of junior or senior status, maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3 and show leadership in at least one of the following areas: scholarship; athletics; journalism, speech and mass media; campus or community service, social and religious activities, and campus government; or creative and performing arts.
Omicron Delta Kappa strives to recognize those who have attained a high standard of performance in collegiate activities and to inspire others to strive toward similar achievements. We also attempt to bring together a representation of students, faculty, staff, and administrators in all areas of college life, in order to create an organization that expresses the total intellectual, spiritual, moral and cultural development of individuals. In addition ODK tries to polish leadership abilities of the individual by providing ample opportunity for development.
ODK sponsors the following campus activities and programs: hosting the President of the University’s Open House (once a semester), organizing the Books for Africa drive, ushering at graduation ceremonies, selecting a student organization adviser of the year, and hosting the reception for new students who make the Dean’s List during fall semester.
In the spirit of ODK there are a couple of requirements for active membership. Every semester each ODK member must attend two monthly meetings, one two-hour service project, and at least one ODK-sponsored event. Members take these requirements very seriously and ask that you do, too.
Informational sessions will be held at noon Wednesday, Sept. 13, and at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, in Room 154, Murray-Herrick Campus Center. Applications will be available at these informational meetings, in the Dean of Student Life Office, from Karen Lange in the Commuter Center, and at the Activities Fair on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
