University of St. Thomas Guitar Studies Program

The UST Guitar Studies Program is a college curriculum designed to meet the artistic and educational goals of both the aspiring professional and the dedicated amateur.

A professional faculty with strengths in performance, guitar technique, interpretation, improvisation, songwriting, embraces all styles of music, including rock, classical, jazz, ethnic/folk, flamenco, and ancient music.

The Program invites all players from the absolute beginner seeking to round out their liberal arts experience (and for whom we provide free loaner guitars) to the student pursuing a professional performance career. Many of our graduates are pursuing or have completed studies at the finest graduate schools in the country.

Founded by Chris Kachian in 1984, the UST Guitar Program boasts over 100 students studying virtually all styles of guitar music in solo and ensemble settings.
