The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which current philosophies and methods in music education concur or contrast with the Flow theory of Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. The writings of six prominent music education philosophers and methodologists were each examined in detail. I chose to focus on authors whose works are considered to be core reading for students enrolled in Graduate Programs in Music Education at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
