Abstract
This article reviews scholars' breakdown of the advantages of the informal music learning environment as support for the authors' recommendation to model classroom music learning after popular musicians' methods. The author narrates her personal experiences as a rock musician, identifies key characteristics of making music informally, and lists successful activities and strategies she has employed in her own classroom to implement an informal learning environment.
