The Pedagogical Practices of Elementary General Music Teachers in the Teaching of Triple Meter

The problem being investigated in this study is to determine the pedagogical practices that elementary general music teachers use to teach triple meter. Subsequent questions relating to this problem are: (1) Is duple meter taught prior to triple meter? (2) Is triple meter taught using: movement, speech, songs, instruments, listening, or a combination of all five? (3) Is triple meter performed after initial teaching using: movement, speech, songs, instruments, listening, or a combination of all five? (4) Do movement activities play a significant role in the teaching or performing of triple meter?
