The intent of this thesis was to determine what method or methods studio voice teachers currently use to teach posture and breathing as applied to singing. This study examined six sub-problems: (1) How do voice teachers who embrace a traditional, no-scientifically based approach to singing, teach posture? (2) How do voice teachers who embrace a scientifically based approach to singing, teach posture? (3) How do voice teachers embracing a combination of these approaches teach posture? (4) How do voice teachers who embrace a traditional, non-scientifically based approach to singing, teach breathing? (5) How do voice teachers who embrace a scientifically based approach to singing, teach breathing? (6) How do voice teachers embracing a combination of these approaches teach breathing?
