Parker Quartet presents an exciting program that includes Mozart's String Quartet in G Major, K. 156, Benjamin Britten's String Quartet No.2, and Ludwig van Beethoven's String Quartet in F Major, Op.135. Mozart's wonderful early quartet was written at a time when he was living in Milan working on an opera, and is known as one of his "Milanese Quartets." Britten's 100th birthday will be celebrated later this November. In honor of this the Parker Quartet takes on his powerful Quartet No. 2. Written after his experiences touring Germany in 1945 to play for concentration camp survivors, the work is an epic journey that spans the spectrum of human emotion. Closing the program will be Beethoven's Op.135 which not only stands as the last quartet he ever wrote, but also the last complete work during his lifetime.
