Keyboard Ensembles

St. Thomas offers outstanding instruction in piano, jazz piano, organ and harpsichord.  A low student-faculty ratio offers all students the benefit of close personal contact with their teachers and other msuic students, as well as ample performance opportunities within a strong liberal arts curriculum.  We place primary emphasis on the individual student, encouraging each to become a mature, creative, independent musician.  St. Thomas houses more than 50 keyboard instruments, about half of which are grand pianos.  For recitals, the superb Steinway concert grand has been requilt and is of exeptional quality.  The many classroom and practice instruments, both grand pianos and studio uprights, are well-maintained by master technicians.  The four organs on campus include the outstanding Gabriel Kney in the Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas and the Fritz Noack in the St. Mary's Chapel.

The Piano Ensemble presents a unique opportunity for piano majors, piano minors and other qualified pianists to explore the treasures of two-piano and piano duet repertoire.

The Accompanying Ensemble provides an opportunity for pianists, singers and instrumentalists to explore the joys of the art song and chamber music repertoire through individual and group coaching.
