Kathy Thomsen is an Associate Professor of Music and Fine Arts Division Coordinator at Hamline University in St. Paul, MN. She serves on the summer faculty at the University of St. Thomas in their Graduate Programs in Music Education.  She has an undergraduate degree from Hamline, a M.M. from the University of Michigan, and a D.M.A. from the University of Minnesota. Kathy holds a license in Dalcroze Eurhythmics from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA, is president of the Dalcroze Society of America, and editor of the American Dalcroze Journal. At Hamline University she teaches piano, the Elements of Music, and Dalcroze Eurhythmics, and conducts the Women's Chorale. During her sabbatical in 2004, Kathy traveled to six middle schools around Minnesota to teach Dalcroze Eurhythmics to their orchestras and bands.  Her article, ‘Hearing is Believing: Dalcroze Solfege and Musical Understanding,’ was published in Music Educators Journal in December 2011.  She gives Dalcroze workshops throughout the US to choral conductors, music educators, and music students.
