Debra Kotulski, Lyric-Mezzo, holds the M.M. and D.M.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she studied under the late William McIver. In addition to teaching privately, she previously served on the faculties of institutions such as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the MacPhail Center for the Arts, and many of her students have gone on to place in voice competitions and establish themselves as professional artists. Dr. Kotulski has numerous opera roles to her credit, including Blanche de la Force in an award-winning production of PoulencÍs Dialogues of the Carmelites and Rose Maurrant in WeillÍs Street Scene. As a recitalist, she has appeared throughout Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic in recitals of American Art Song with pianist Edward Walters and has appeared as a soloist with chamber and choral groups in the Southeast and Midwest. She has been the recipient of several awards, including winner of the Milwaukee Music Teachers Association Voice Competition and National Semi-Finalist at the MacAllister Awards for Opera Singers. In addition, she is a full member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and is a graduate of the prestigious NATS Intern Program. |
