Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to the University of St. Thomas through the Murray Institute, candidates must:
  • Hold B.A./B.S. if applying for a Master of Arts degree; Master of Arts if applying for the Educational Specialist degree program;

  • Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) on undergraduate work or the successful completion of a graduate level program. Students may be accepted with "conditional admission" if grade point averages are lower than these standards;

  • Take the Miller Analogy Test (MAT) if the undergraduate GPA is a minimum of 2.75;

  • Complete the application process:

    • File application forms and pay an application fee;

    • Submit an official transcript of all academic work, both graduate and undergraduate;

    • Submit three letters of recommendation attesting to the applicants ability to do graduate work - these three letters must come from a supervisor, a colleague, and a person of the applicant's choice.

  • Satisfy the Murray Institute criteria:

    • Have worked in a Catholic school/parish for at least two years;

    • Commit to participate fully in and to complete the program;

    • Work in a Catholic school/parish for at least three years beyond completion of the degree program.
