A Continuing Lecture Series

Catholic higher education faces serious challenges on multiple fronts. Among them are not only the economic and demographic pressures that confront all institutions of higher learning but also the challenge of Ex corde ecclesiae to engage in a dialogue with culture and science and to ensure a Christian presence in the university world. To meet these challenges we must provide precisely what we claim to encourage in our students: morally responsible leadership, critical thought, wise action and skillful work to advance the common good.

We invite the St Thomas community to join us in a sustained conversation about how we can respond to these challenges in creative and comprehensive ways and contribute to our university’s growing prominence as a leader in Catholic higher education. Over the course of this year, we will offer a series of programs in which leaders in higher education from around the country share their wisdom and insights. We hope that these programs will be a catalyst for community-wide conversations about the future of our university. Please join us at the following programs:

Creating a Dynamic Vision of Catholic Mission and Identity: A University Experience--October 22, 2012
Rev. James P. Burns, Division of Mission and Ministry Boston College

The Catholic University in the 21st Century--Spring 2013
