About Joni Thome

Joni M. Thome practices exclusively on behalf of plaintiffs in the area of employment law. Ms. Thome joined as a partner in the law firm of Halunen & Associates in 2004 after working as a solo practitioner in Minneapolis for 12 years. She is a 1992 graduate of Hamline University School of Law. Ms. Thome is the founder of Minnesota Lavender Bar Association and received the organization’s Community Service Award in 2003. She has served on many human rights oriented committees of the Hennepin County Bar Association and the Minnesota State Bar Association throughout her career. She served eight years on the Board of Directors for ABA affiliate, the National LGBT Law Association. In addition to her community service and social advocacy work, Ms. Thome is known for her appellate work relating to human and civil rights including cases involving governmental immunity, sexual orientation discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation and discrimination on the basis of religion in the workplace. She has tried many cases to verdicts favorable to Plaintiff’s and brought countless cases to pre-trial resolution.
