About Kathryn Komsa, M.A., M.B.A.

As the Chief Diversity Officer of Marsh & McLennan Companies from 2009 to 2012, Kathryn Komsa created and implemented the company’s first firm-wide diversity and inclusion strategy, delivered diversity and inclusion education for the company’s top 250 leaders, implemented U.S. Tax Benefits Equalization for LGBT colleagues, and published the company’s first Corporate Citizenship Report.

Kathryn is on the faculty of The Conference Board’s Diversity Boot Camp and Advisor to Asia Society’s Diversity Council, serving as a 2013 Award Judge.  She was named one of Black Enterprise’s 2011 Top Executives in Diversity and has contributed to numerous articles and events on diversity and inclusion including “Achieving Gender Balance in the Workplace Goes Beyond the Workplace” (Profiles in Diversity 2010, November/December), “Leading Across Borders: Inclusive Thinking in an Interconnected World” (Ernst & Young White Paper 2011), and “HR and the Corporate Secretary” (Corporate Secretary, May 2012).

Kathryn serves on the Executive Board of the YWCA of NYC, leads their Board Development committee, and co-chaired the Steering Committee for the YW’s fundraiser, the Salute to Women Leaders for three years.

She holds an M.A in English and M.B.A. in Management from New York University.
