About Barbara Deane
Barbara R. Deane, M.A., is vice-president of The GilDeane Group, Inc, a Hispanic and women-owned publishing, training and consulting firm founded in 1988 in Seattle, Washington. For the past 23 years, Barbara has served as editor-in-chief of the firm's publications, DiversityCentral.com and Cultural Diversity at Work journal, now an electronic archive of articles, tools and resources on the Web at DiversityCentral.com. Her passion is reflected in more than 100 articles she has written on diversity, diversity management, cultural differences and inclusion. She is also an experienced trainer and consultant in the areas of diversity and inclusion, diversity and cross-cultural management, intercultural communication and negotiation. She has trained and worked with leaders, managers, employees, D&I champions and change agents at Fortune 500 companies, federal, state and municipal government agencies and non-profit organizations. Barbara is the founder of the Diversity Learning Series, a unique collaborative employer model for leveraging diversity education. She is a member of the Board of The Diversity Collegium, and speaks Spanish fluently.
