About Mary Blegen
Mary Blegen is Executive Vice President and Director of Employee Engagement and Leadership Development at U.S. Bancorp.
Blegen is responsible for developing and executing a corporate strategy for employee learning and leadership development, managing the company’s training and mentoring programs and leading succession planning. She also has responsibility for building employee-focused initiatives such as the company’s Leadership Advantage, Leadership Excellence and Corporate Mentoring programs, which are designed to provide opportunities for employees to learn and grow as leaders. The US Bank Alumni program also reports to Mary.
A 34-year veteran of U.S. Bank with experience in multiple business lines, Blegen most recently served as the head 24-Hour Banking and Financial Sales, where she led the service and sales functions for the company’s non-branch banking channels, including call centers, ATMs, Internet banking, e-mail, and U.S. Mail. She has also spent ten years working in human resources for the company.
Blegen is a life-long resident of Minnesota and graduate of the University of Minnesota, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business. She is a founding member and was the 2007 chairman of the board of the Identity Theft Assistance Center (ITAC), a national organization aimed at assisting victims of identity theft. She is on the board of directors for Special Olympics Minnesota. She is a member of the Minnesota Women’s Economic Roundtable and the Greater Twin Cities United Way Women’s Leadership Council. She is the past chairman of the board of Women Venture, an organization that helps women start and grow their own businesses, find new jobs, or develop new career paths.
Blegen and her husband, Jay, live in Apple Valley, Minn. and have a grown son, Bill.
