About Liz Winfeld
Liz Winfeld, President of Common Ground, is a nationally recognized expert in diversity education for adults in the workplace. Her areas of expertise are sexual orientation, transgender people at work, the development and maintenance of employee resource groups, and domestic partner benefits.
Recently, a lot of Common Ground’s attention for its clients has been in the area of implementing policy language for gender identity or gender identity expression, and in helping organizations effectively deal with the transition of an employee. This has led to the development of both proactive policies being ready to use should another transition occur, and also to very interesting educational initiatives that are standing alone from those that involve sexual orientation too.
Liz is author of the award-winning Straight Talk About Gays in the Workplace. She has consulted to and built diversity education programs for dozens of organizations in the US and Canada including Ford Motor Company, DePaul University, Duke University, Shell Oil, MasterCard, McDonald’s, Kaiser Permanente, State Farm Financial Companies, NGA, NOAA, the US Postal Service, State Farm, Microsoft, Yum Brands, Boeing, The NSA, Blue Cross-Blue Shield of FL, American Express, JP Morgan-Chase, BestBuy Corporation, Sodexho, Food Lion, LLC, Chevron, Hewlett Packard, The Conference Board and many others.
