An Update on Efforts to Close the Twin Cities' Racial Employment Gap
Tuesday, April 9, 2013
Minneapolis Convention Center
It’s been a little over two years since the Economic Policy Institute issued “Uneven Pain”, a policy brief identifying the Twin Cities as among the worst in the nation for black unemployment. We now have several efforts underway to address racial equity in employment in our metro region. And we’re continuing to move forward, toward success. Join colleagues and partners for learning, sharing, and lunch prior to the Multicultural Forum on Workplace Diversity at the University of St. Thomas.
The City of Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights, the Jay & Rose Phillips Family Foundation of Minnesota, and the Greater Twin Cities United Way are hosting workforce development practitioners, advocates, business and education partners, and others to learn together about the strategies we’re pursuing to close the racial employment gap in the region. There’s good work underway, and of course, more work to be done.
