Dear ,

This year we celebrate our 10th Anniversary!  I look forward to seeing many of you at our September 20th celebration.  Alumni play a role in the success of the law school and we are grateful for all that you do to contribute to all our achievements. As an alum, there are several ways you can contribute to the ongoing success of the law school.

First, leadership is a key component of our success—particularly the leadership of our graduates.  I encourage you to consider applying for a leadership position on the Alumni Board.  Each year we appoint new members to Alumni Board, comprised of 19 alumni and 1 student representative.  This year there are eight open positions: seven Director positions and one Secretary/Treasurer position.  To learn more, click here

Second, we invite you to our  CLEs and social opportunities.  This month we have a free CLE on debt management for public interest attorneys and another on juvenile offenders and life without parole. Next month we have a free family law CLE and the annual golf outing.  For more details, visit the calendar of events below.

Third, strong and continued participation in our annual giving program from our alumni is essential to our success.  As you know, the law school recently wrapped up its eighth Annual Giving Campaign.  To the best of our knowledge, the School of Law achieved the top spot among ABA accredited law schools for percentage of alumni participating in giving for seven consecutive years.  I am pleased to report that we anticipate similar results for this year’s campaign, having achieved 53% participation.  Your gifts are critical to advancing our mission and we are so grateful for the continued participation of our alumni in the Annual Giving Campaign.  Thank you!

Finally, mentoring our current UST Law students is so valuable when it comes to the success of our school.  Your willingness to serve as a mentor helps to ensure that each graduating class students is “road ready” for the practice of law.  If you’d like to serve as a mentor, please contact Elizabeth Rusinak, the Interim Director of the Mentor Externship Program at earusinak@stthomas.edu.

I look forward to seeing you over the upcoming months.  Please contact me if you have any ideas or suggestions for other ways to participate in the success of the law school.

Sincerely,

Nicole Fredricks Jackson
Director of Alumni Relations
