Scot Adams "The Banach-Tarski Paradox"
Abstract: One version of The Banach-Tarksi Paradox asserts that it is possible, in three dimensions, to decompose a ball of radius one into finitely many pieces, and, using only translations and rotations (no stretching!), reassemble them into a ball of
radius two. The recording of the talk is now posted at http://mediamill.cla.umn.edu/mediamill/embed/29835 .
He will also address the Financial Mathematics program at the U of M during his presentation. If you would like to learn more about the program I have attached a link here. Full time students have the possibility to complete the masters program in one year!

Our Mission
The Math and Actuarial Club provides an opportunity for members to learn more about future uses of mathematics and actuarial science by sponsoring speakers and colloquia. It provides an opportunity for current math and actuarial science majors to meet and interact with fellow classmates and alumni, allowing them to expand their network and to learn more about their particular field. This club will be of particular interest to students interested in mathematics, engineering, actuarial science, or graduate school.
