Mathematical Competitions

Students are encouraged to participate in any or all of three competitions held throughout the academic year.  More information is provided on the individual web pages.  Weekly practice sessions will be announced.

  • North Central Section of the Mathematical Association of America Competition
    second or third Saturday in November
    Saturday, November 14, 2009, 9:00-12:00, at UST.
  • William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition
    first Saturday in December
    Saturday, December 5, 2009, at USTThe morning session runs from 9:00-12:00 and the afternoon session runs from 2:00-5:00.
  • Konhauser Problemfest
    last Saturday in February
    Saturday, February 27, 2010, at UST, 9:00-12:00, followed by a free lunch and results presentation, when graders are finished.

 

2009 MAA NCS Team Competition
Congratulations to our three UST teams who participated in this year's North Central Section Team Competition sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America. 

This year's contest (13th annual) was held on Saturday, November 14, 2009.
17th Annual Konhauser Problemfest
Congratulations to our UST team of Seemon Hur, Monique Pratt, and Vy Tran!  They placed 8th out of the 15 teams who participated in this year's Konhauser Problemfest held on February 28, 2009, at Carleton College.

Faculty attending were Mike Axtell, Doug Dokken, and Kurt Scholz.

UST will host in 2010.
