Actuarial Science

Welcome to the Actuarial Science Program webpage at the University of St. Thomas. If you have a knack for math, you're probably aware of many rewarding careers open to you. But there's a career you may not have heard much about, one you should explore-- a career as an actuary.

The actuarial program at St. Thomas strives to provide our students with a broad foundation of knowledge and skills, along with the opportunity to gain practical experience while in college. In addition to the superior liberal arts education offered by St. Thomas, the actuarial program provides a strong connection to industry through activities such as an external advisory board, campus speakers, interview skills and resume counseling led by alumni, and a Math and Actuarial Science club. Research projects with industry professionals and faculty members supported by the Center for Applied Mathematics are available to actuarial science majors.

The actuarial science program at the University of St. Thomas is recognized as a SOA Centers of Actuarial Excellence (CAE) by the Society of Actuaries (SOA). "Universities that have been named Centers of Actuarial Excellence by the SOA truly exemplify the highest standards in actuarial education, research and scholarship," noted Donald J. Segal, former president of the SOA.
