Professionals at the Life/Work Center provide consultation to university staff, faculty, and students. Topics for consultation might include personal, academic, or career concerns. The experienced staff at the Life/Work Center use their expertise to assist members of the university community in maximizing their effectiveness. Faculty or staff may want to explore their concerns about a student or to clarify their role in helping, and provide information about resources available to the student. Feel free to contact us to talk about concerns you may have regarding a student and, if indicated, ways to make an effective counseling referral.
The Life/Work staff consults on a short-term basis with groups experiencing roadblocks to effective work. Through coaching and mediation, we can assist groups with issues disrupting working relationships and communications, help clarify goals, help groups cope with change, and facilitate solutions to persistent problems. Our team includes a licensed psychologist trained and available to conduct critical incident stress debriefing. We can also design and facilitate retreats, workshops, and training sessions.
Life/Work Center professionals are available to conduct workshop presentations for students, faculty, or staff on topics such as anxiety, time management, study skills, or stress management, as well as other topics. Programs can be focused on helping students be more effective, or on helping faculty and staff work with students more effectively. We also respond to special requests. We request advance notice prior to the date that you would like any type of workshop presentation. While we cannot guarantee that all workshop requests will be met, we will make every effort to do so.
