Events and Deadliines

October 2007

Visit St. Thomas if you haven't already. The Fall Tommie Days for Seniors event is a great way to learn more about life at UST, the
St. Thomas education, financing your St. Thomas education, UST Study Abroad program and more!

Consider an overnight visit. This is the best way to experience the residence halls, see a class in action, meet faculty members, and talk with students. Don't forget to eat lunch on campus!

November 2007

Research scholarships.  Utilize the resources available from your local library, websites, your high school guidance office, parents’ work, your employer, and church.

Get some great scholarship information from our Web site at: www.stthomas.edu/financialservices/undergraduate.

Do you still have a lot of questions about the financial aid process? Visit our financial aid basics page.

Apply for outside funding or scholarships (you'll be busy writing essays!).

Go on-line (parents and students) to secure your U.S. Department of Education PIN (Personal Identification Numbers), which you will use as your electronic signature when you file your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Collect family tax information and file your taxes as soon as possible.; UST's priority deadline for financial aid is April 1. Be sure to file your FAFSA by this date.

January 2008

After January 1, or as soon as you file your Federal Taxes, you should file your FAFSA electronically. You can also obtain a paper FAFSA from your college counseling office. The FAFSA school code for St. Thomas is 002345.

Be wary of Web sites or services that charge a fee for financial aid. Filing the FAFSA is free.

February 2008

Keep in contact with your admissions counselor. This person is available to help you through the college admission process and knows about all the deadlines, forms and important events.

If you are taking Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) courses, register to take the tests to receive college credit at UST.

Send in your confirming and housing deposits and paperwork.  St. Thomas requires a $200 deposit to reserve a space in the class and a $200 deposit to reserve a space in a residence hall.  Housing assignments are based on the date we receive your housing deposit. These deposits are refundable if requested by May 1.

March 2008

Your Student Aid Report (SAR) will either be sent to you electronically or by mail. You will receive your SAR 1-3 weeks after you file the FAFSA.

Take a tour of all of the traditional residence halls at the Residence Life Event.  You will also learn more about getting involved on campus.

Can't get to the Residence Life Event?  The Office of Undergraduate Admissions offers residence hall tours every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon in the spring.
