Calhoun County Historical Society

The Calhoun County Historical Society has created guides to assist researchers who are not able to visit. They have books for sale such as: Census records, cemeteries, marriages, obituaries, clubs, lodges and fraternal organizations, naturalization records, biographies, and other items of interest.

Materials in the collection include: census data, and organization records. They will copy single pages for a small fee, but books of resources are also available for sale.

Evanston Historical Society

Rogers Park / West Ridge Historical Society

The Rogers Park / West Ridge Historical Society mission is to preserve and promote the history of the Rogers Park/West Ridge area. Early settlers to the are included Luxembourgers. The Skokie Public Library collection contains an index of the books Luxembourg Brotherhood of America, Luxembourgers in the New World, St. Peter Catholic Church, Skokie, Illinois, St. Peter Catholic Church, 1868-69 to 1993-94 which is available online at http://www.skokiehistory.info/combined/index.html. Wilmette Historical Museum

The Wilmette County Historical Society collection includes the book, Luxembourg Brotherhood of America, 1887-1987, ed. Richard J. Witry, that includes a chapter on Wilmette members, a banner from the Gross Point chapter of the LBA dated 1916, and two membership plaques from the same period. In addition, the holdings consist of information about some of the families with Luxembourg backgrounds, including the Doetsch, Heinzen, Hoffman, Loutsch, Rengel, and Sesterhenn families.

Minnesota Historical Society Library

The Minnesota Historical Society Library collection contains many useful items including: correspondence, reports, research and interview notes, statistical data, chapter drafts, and other related material created by the Minnesota Ethnic History Project (MEHP). The project operated under the auspices of the Minnesota Historical Society from 1973 to 1981 and culminated in the publication of the book They Chose Minnesota: A Survey of the State's Ethnic Groups.  Other items include a biographical sketch of John Berschen, The Marnach House, September 1990: yesterday, today, and tomorrow!, census data, Minnesota history, and photographs.

University of St. Thomas

The Bach-Dunn Collection of Luxembourgiana at the University of St. Thomas includes microfilm of the Luxemburger Gazette (indexed in Vol. 2 of Nicholas Gonner’s Luxembourgers in the New World) and the Remsen (IA) Bell-Enterprise (1915 - 1994) as well as numerous published family histories, church histories, cemetery records, and city/county histories. Additionally, the collection holds microfilm copies the Luxembourg civil/parish records (1580 - 1890) produced by the LDS. Winona County Historical Society

The Winona County Historical Society collection contains several books, including biographies and local histories relating to the Luxembourg experiences in Rollingstone, Winona County. Other useful information includes vertical files, newspaper accounts, and information regarding Nicholas Marnarch and the Marnarch House. The holdings also include many photographs of the region and the Luxembourger experience.

Texas Christian University

The collection of the Texas Christian University is primarily books, but it also includes materials of all kinds: maps, periodicals, pamphlets, government documents, art, photographs, and sound recordings. Most of the material is in Lëtzebuergesch, French, German, or English and was published in the Grand Duchy.

Hartford History Room

The Hartford History Room collections include copies of all obituaries from the Dodge County Pioneer - German newspaper from 1886 – 1945. They are in the process of translating these and creating an index. The collection also contains the John Von Haden church and cemetery books, covering most of Washington County and some of Dodge County. There are also 3200 family files, and census data for Washington and Dodge County.

The Milwaukee Public Library contains vital records on microfilm, a guide to newspaper holdings at the library and other locations throughout Wisconsin, census, access to Ancestry Plus, local histories, Milwaukee city telephone directories beginning in 1861, microfilm ship passenger lists beginning in 1834, and cemetery records. The library is also a government document repository site and may have information on the draft riots in Ozaukee County, 1862. For additional assistance the library has created a brief guide to conducting genealogy research..
