Requesting Items from Other CLIC Libraries

Requesting material from other CLIC libraries

If you find in CLICnet that your UST library does not own a book you need, or it is checked out from your library, you may request the book from another CLIC library if available (this is sometimes called "placing a hold.")

  • Make sure the item that you want is checked in at another school, and not checked out, missing, lost, or on order.
  • Click on the red Request button at the top or bottom of the screen displaying the item you want
  • On the next screen, fill in your name and the 14-digit barcode number found on the back of your St. Thomas I.D.
  • Enter the location where you'd like to pick up the item (it can be a library other than your own college)
  • Enter a "Cancel if not filled by:" date.  If you don't fill in a date, your request will be active for 14 days--if the item is not available in that time, your request will be canceled. If you would like longer than 14 days (for example, if the book is checked out and not due back for more than 2 weeks), you can change the date.
  • Click on the Submit Above Information button

Note: there are some types of materials that may not be requested using a CLICnet request; these include:

  • periodicals (journals)
  • videos (check with your Audiovisuals Dept to schedule for classroom use)
  • reference items
  • reserves
  • all materials from Bethel Seminary West (BSanDiego) and Bethel Seminary East

Cancelling a request

If you need to cancel a request, here's how:

  • From the CLICnet main page, click on My Account at the upper left side of the page.
  • Enter your name and the 14-digit barcode number found on the back of your St. Thomas I.D.
  • Click on the link to "# request (hold)." You will see a list of the items you have requested.
  • Click the box next to the item(s) you wish to cancel, then click the Cancel All or Cancel Selected button as appropriate.

Renewing items

Follow these steps to renew your item(s):

  • From the CLICnet main page, click on My Account at the upper left side of the page.
  • Enter your name and the 14-digit barcode number found on the back of your St. Thomas I.D.
  • Click on the link to "# items currently checked out." You will see a list of the items you have checked out. You may click the Sort By Due Date button to rearrange items.
  • Click the box next to the item(s) you wish to renew, then click the Renew All or Renew Selected Items button as appropriate.

CLICnet will not renew a book if:

  • The book has already been renewed the maximum number of times.
  • There is a hold on the book by another patron.
  • The book is a Reserves book.
  • The book was ordered through Interlibrary Loan.
