Off-Campus Access

Accessing online resources from off-campus

Online databases and electronic journals subscribed to by the UST Libraries are licensed for use by the St. Thomas community ONLY.  Because of this restriction, we need to verify that anyone accessing these databases is a current member of the St. Thomas community.

  • From off-campus, you will be directed to an intermediary screen and required to login with your UST username and password.  This is your UST email username/password, not your Murphy login or your library barcode.
    • For more information about your UST username and password, if you are a new user, or need to change your password, etc., see the IRT accounts/passwords page
  • Help with "Ezproxy cookie error" in IE.
  • Connection problems at work/schoolMany corporate or government systems use a firewall for security purposes.
    • EZproxy is also configured for a secure connection, your workplace may be blocking access to secure webpages. If you cannot access such things as internet banking from your workplace, then it is quite likely that your employer is blocking access to secure sites.
    • If these networks have a firewall or preset internet security settings they could interfere with EZproxy.  A good webpage for testing SSL connections the URL listed below. If you can see this page then SSL connections are not blocked. If you can’t see the page, then your computer or workplace is blocking SSL connections. https://www.microsoft.com/
  • You can use the Electronic Library of Minnesota (ELM) to get to a number of library resources using your public library card.
  • Some e-books have a slightly different set-up.  Find out how to use ebooks from off-campus
