Create a personal Blackwell-Synergy Account

Creating alerts in Blackwell-Synergy journals requires users to first sign up for a free individual account.  To do so, go to the database and hit the "Register" link at the top right side of the page to access the online registration form.

Journal/ Table of Contents Alerts

Go to the Blackwell-Synergy database that contains your journal (if you don't know this, check our Journals A-Z page).  Once on the site, browse the journals by subject and select the title you're interested in (a green bullet next to the title indicates that UST subscribes to the title in full text).

--Select the "Sign up for e-alerts" link to sign up for an email table of contents alert.  The succeeding page lists all Blackwell titles, and you can browse and see that any titles for which you have signed up for alerts are marked with a green check box.

--For an RSS feed alert, point at the orange RSS feed icon, right-click, and copy the feed URL and paste it into your newsreader application.

Search Alerts

First, log in to your Blackwell-Synergy account.  Perform your search, then see the "Research Alerts" box on the left-hand side of the search results page.  Enter a title for your search in the box and hit the "Save search" button.  On the succeeding page, select the "Alert Me" drop-down box to set the frequency of your email alerts, and then hit the "Save" button.

For an RSS feed of your search alert, from the search results page, simply point at the orange RSS feed icon, right-click, and copy the feed URL and paste it into your newsreader application.
