Child Welfare League of America
An organization which concerns itself with the policies and programs that protect America's children.  In addition to the programs and services provided by this group, links to resources are provided.

Columbia University Social Work Library
This web site to resources available at the Columbia Social Work Library, as well as a collection of internet sites of interest to Social Workers.

Council on Social Work Education
Includes information on the organization, including publications, services, and directories.  It also includes links to other social work resources on the web.

Green Book
A publication of the House Ways and Means Committee of the Background Material and Data on Programs Within the Jurisdiction of the
Committee on Ways and Means.  To access, highlight the most current edition of the Green Book in the list, and then type "green book" in the "Search Terms" box or type a specific subject term in the box.    

Information for Practice: News and new scholarship from around the world. This web site is sponsored by New York University's School of Social Work and the Division of Social Work and Behavioral Science, Mount Sinai School of Medicine and provides news articles on Social Work topics.

Encyclopedia of American Social History. 3 vols. 1993. (REF HN 57 .E58 1993)
Articles are grouped by general topic (i.e. periods of social change; regionalism and regional subcultures; education and literacy, etc.) and include cross-references to other topics, and extensive bibliographies. volume three includes brief biographical information on the authors of the articles as well as an extensive subject index.

Encyclopedia of Crime and Justice. 1983. (REF HV 6017 .E52 1983)
A four-volume, interdisciplinary encyclopedia covering all fields relating to criminal behavior, crime prevention, punishment and treatment of offenders, institutions, and law.

The Encyclopedia of Elder Care: the Comprehensive Resource on Geriatric and Social Care. 2001.  (REF RC 954 .E53 2001)
Each article is signed, and provides other terms which would expand upon the topic.  It also includes terms that could be used when searching on the Internet.  There is a bibliography of print and Web resources included, and a subject index to search for specific terms.

Encyclopedia of Social Work. 1995. (REF HV 35 .S6 19th 1995)
A three-volume encyclopedia which defines and analyzes the major topics in the field of social work. volume three includes a more detailed subject index. Earlier editions are located on the shelf immediately preceding these volumes in the Reference collection. 

Encyclopedia of Sociology. 5 vols. 2d ed. 2000. (REF HM 425 .E5 2000)
Includes in-depth articles on topics in sociology written by experts in the field. Articles are in alphabetical order by broad topic. An excellent subject index provides access by more specific subject.

Funding Sources for Children and Youth Programs 2002. (REF HV 741 .F86 2002)
An annual publication that identifies grants and other sources of funding for a variety of 
programs for children.

Handbook of Empirical Social Work Practice. 2 vols.  1998.  (REF HV 43 .H316 1998)
Volume 1 covers "Mental Disorders" and Volume 2 includes "Social problems and Practice Issues".  Each volume has its own subject indes.

Health Care Policy and Politics A to Z.  2000.  (REF RA 395 .A3 R685 2000)
A dictionary that covers topics on health care.  It also lists the U.S. Congressional committees that are responsible for health care and other health care related organizations.

Minnesota Welfare: A Guide to Public Assistance Programs in Minnesota. 1993. (REF HV 98 .M6 B42 1993)
Information on the major assistance programs for the state of Minnesota, by the Minnesota House of Representatives. Each entry includes administration information, eligibility requirements, benefits, and funding.

The Social Work Dictionary. 2d ed. 1991. (REF HV 12 .B37 1991)
A basic dictionary for social workers. It includes a timeline of "milestones" in the field, and the NASW Code of Ethics.
