National Center for Education Statistics 
Federal agency that collects and analyzes data related to education.

Digest of Education Statistics
Online version of this basic statistical source; this site now has links to tables from previous editions, going back to 1990 in some cases.  Does not have a search feature.

The Condition of Education
Online version of publication by this title.  Describes current status and recent progress of education in the United States.  Does not have a search feature.

Projections of Education Statistics
Online version of the printed publication.

International Archive of Education Data
This is a source for historical data that includes national, state or provincial, local, and private data on teaching and learning processes and the “inputs” (funding, personnel, teaching resources, facilities, teacher and student preparation, etc.) and “outputs” (graduation and matriculation rates, drop-out rates, test scores, job placements, life histories, life assessments, etc.). of education at all levels. As the title suggests, it also includes other countries besides the United States.

America's Children: Key National Indicators
Online version of a biennial report on the condition of children in the United States.  Twenty five indicators describe the status of children in the areas of economic security, education, health and social environment among others.

School District Demographics
This site, part of the National Center for Education Statistics,  provides access to school district geographic and demographic data useful for describing and analyzing characteristics of school districts, children and K-12 education.

SchoolMatters
This site is a collaborative project by the Council of Chief State School Officers, Standard & Poors, and three other agencies.  It provides demographic and comparative data for school districts including test scores, school environment, and No Child Left Behind, among others.

Minnesota Kids Count (Children's Defense Fund)
Online version of the latest Kids Count Data Book.  Assesses the well-being of Minnesota's children based on ten indicators.  Although not strictly an education-related site, there is good data here on the quality of life for children living in Minnesota.

Minnesota Department of Education Data Downloads
Check here for links to data collected by the Minnesota Department of Education. Files can be viewed online or saved to your computer.
