American Criminal Justice Association
The official web site for this association, it provides many useful links to other web resources that cover criminal justice topics.

An excellent web site created by Cecil Geek at Florida State University.  It provides links to quality criminal justice resources on the WWW.

Criminal Justice Resources
This is another site which collects links to many different subject areas in criminal justice.  Created by a librarian at Michigan State University, it provides links grouped by topic.  Many of the links also include annotations of the sites.

CrimeLynx
Created by an attorney to provide links to resources for criminal defense practitioners as well as criminal justice professionals and the community.  Claiming to find "the best, not the most of the web", it provides resources  covering areas such as forensics, media, politics, and policy.

Cybrary
Referred to as a directory for criminal justice professionals and students, this site was created by Dr. Frank Schmalleger, the director of the Justice Research Association. It provides links to many different Criminal Justice resources on the Web.

Federal Bureau of Investigation
Information on the agency in addition to other criminal justice information, including Crime in the United States (see Statistical Sources below).

Federal Bureau of Prisons
Information on prisons and prisoners, penology, and resources that affect these topics, including statistics.

Justice Research and Statistics Association
"JRSA is a national organization of state Statistical Analysis Center directors as well as analysts, researchers, and practitioners throughout the justice system."  It provides information on activities and research, publications, and resources available on the WWW.

This is the home page for the Metropolitan Police Service, New Scotland Yard, England.

National Archive of Criminal Justice Data
This Web site provides access to many different resources which include data on Crime and Justice. One resource is the National Crime Victimization Survey.

National Criminal Justice Reference Service--Justice Information Center
A collection of clearinghouses for various government agencies.  It includes many criminal justice resources which provide statistics and other information resources.  This link takes you to the general site which includes news information. It also acts as a database to abstracts of government reports. These are searchable in the database National Criminal Justice Reference Service Abstracts.

360degrees: Perspectives on the US Criminal Justice System
This web site was created by Picture Projects with support from several non-profit organizations, including National Public Radio.  It provides documentaries, statistics and education resources on the U.S. criminal justice system created by journalists, scholars, statisticians, activists, ex-offenders, students, educators, artists, and programmers.

United Nations Office on Drugs & Crime
This web site provides links to crime and justice organizations worldwide which then provide information on that region/city/country.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security
Information on the department including research and technology, threats and protection, and the latest "threat level".

U.S. Justice Fund, Open Society Institute
This site includes information on community activism and advocacy and it focuses on violent crime.  It evaluates the sites to which it provides links, so only what they consider are the best resources are identified.

World Criminal Justice Library Network
This is a treasure trove of resources in criminal justice.  It includes general Web site links, online reference sources, links to bibliographies of resources on a variety of criminal justice topics, and statistical sources.

This online encyclopedia provides information on all aspects of the field.  It is updated regularly.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF CRIME AND JUSTICE.  4 vols. 2002. (REF HV 6017 .E52 2002)
A four-volume, interdisciplinary encyclopedia covering all fields relating to criminal behavior, crime prevention, punishment and treatment of offenders, institutions, and law.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF CRIME AND PUNISHMENT.  4 vols. 2002.  (REF HV 6017 .E524 2002)
Also, four volumes, this publication attempts to bring together information from a variety of sources on crime and punishment in America and it's affects on the populace.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF CRIMINOLOGY.   3 vols.  2005.  (REF HV 6017 .E5295 2005)
This resource covers a wide range of topics pertaining to crime. Each article includes a list of references for further reading.  Volume 3 includes a detailed subject index.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF CRIMINOLOGY AND DEVIANT BEHAVIOR. 4 vols.  2001. (REF HV 6017 .E53 2001)
Volume 1 includes historical, conceptual and theoretical issues, Volume 2 covers crime and juvenile delinquency, Volume 3 review sexual deviance, and Volume 4 covers self-destructive behavior and disvalued identity.  Use the excellent author and subject indexes found in Volume 4 to find the specific information that you need.  This is an excellent encyclopedia and each article includes an extensive bibliography.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF SOCIOLOGY.  2000.  5 vols.  (REF HM 425 .E5 2000)
The major basic, in-depth encyclopedia covering the field of sociology.  Articles are signed and include a list of references on each topic.

THE FBI:  A Comprehensive Reference Guide.  1999.  (REF HV 8144 .F43 F35 1999)
A good overview of the organization including "Notable Cases", "Controversies and Issues", "Traditions and Culture", "Oversight and Liaison Relationships", "Organization and Day-to-Day Activities", "Biographies", and "The FBI in American Popular Culture".  It includes a chronology of key events, an annotated bibliography, and a detailed index to specific subject terms.

The International Encyclopedia of the Social and Behavioral Sciences.  2001.  26 vols.(REF H 41 .I58 2001)
A major encyclopedia in the field.  Each in-depth article is signed and includes cross-references and a bibliography of resources.  Volume 25 is an index to names in the publication, and volume 26 is a subject index to the set.

WRITING LITERATURE REVIEWS: a guide for students of the social and behavioral sciences.  (REF H 61.8 .G3 1999)
A basic help guide for the social science students.
