NEW!!! Library Book Cart Drill Team Video

  • Library Week at the O’Shaughnessy-Frey opens again with Dominos Demo!

This year's Dominos Demo that kicked off Library Week did not disappoint.  Starting at noon on Monday the staff set up a course of dominos (books really) that started at the main entrance of the O'Shaughnessy-Frey Library, past Coffee Bene, and ended up at the always popular book sale.

But don't just take my word for it, watch the video from that event!

The 2nd annual O’Shaughnessy-Frey and Ireland Libraries Food for Fines program

    When: During Library Week (April 12 - 16, 2010)
    Where: Ireland and OSF Library.
    Recipient: Franciscan Brothers of Peace

UST library patrons will have the opportunity to donate canned food in exchange for the waiving of library fines. This will help in relieving their debt to the library and it will provide needed assistance to a local food bank, and our community as a whole.

    Cans = Fines:
    1 can = $2.00 in fines. (Limit to $50.00).

    Limitations:
Food will be accepted for overdue fines only, not for lost or damaged items (manual charges).
No food in damaged packaging, including dented cans.
Library staff has the right to decline food donations.

Last year’s Food for Fines event brought in 168 items = 156 lbs. of food, waiving $336.00 in library fines

Sorted Books Project - New this year!

The process: Search the collection in the O'Shaughnessy-Frey Library, pull particular titles, and eventually group the books into clusters so that the titles can be read in sequence, from top to bottom (limit to 2-7 books).
The final book clusters will be photographed and posted on the Library’s facebook Page and website.

Details:  Bring the library books that you chose to the O’Shaughnessy-Frey Circulation Desk to be photographed.
At the end of Library Week staff will choose the most creative entry and the winner will receive a $10.00 Coffee Bené gift card.
You may also take your own photo of a group of books and send it along to Nathan Wunrow.  The deadline for entries is the end of the business day Friday, April 16th.

The following link shows examples of other successful sorted books.

  • We have a good one submitted already with the very poetic title 'A Story of Early Week Peer Pressure'.
