How Can I Link to My Readings?
Instructions for Faculty
There are a couple of ways to provide your students with electronic access to required readings while complying with copyright law and license restrictions:
- In many cases, you can find or create a direct connection (known variously as a durable link, persistent link, DURL, or PURL) to the reading in one of the libraries' subscription databases, and place that link in your Blackboard course. More about durable linking.
- If that isn't an option, Course Reserves staff can create an electronic reserve item accessible from the CLICnet catalog Course Reserves tab. To use this option, you'll need to send or bring us a physical or PDF copy of the reading.
Use the simple flowchart below to explore your options:
The Libraries have more than 91,000 e-book titles and over 40,000 full-text journal titles; perhaps 1/2 of these are directly linkable.
