Biography:
Humphrey Moynihan was born October 24, 1864 in Ireland. He studied at Mungret College in Limerick, the University of Dublin and at Propaganda in Rome. On May 23, 1891 he was ordained in Rome where he remained until he received his Doctor of Divinity. He arrived in St. Paul in September 1892 where he was made secretary to the Archbishop.
In 1895, he began teaching at the St. Paul Seminary and in May 1903 was appointed president of the College of St. Thomas. He served in this position until 1921 when he was named Rector of the St. Paul Seminary.
He was named Monsignor on February 5, 1924 and was appointed pastor of the Incarnation Church in Minneapolis in July 1933. Msgr. Moynihan died on December 24, 1943.
