In the 1970s Argentina was a rich country with competitive industries, modern agriculture, and a prosperous middle class. By 2001, 21 out of 36 million people were living below the poverty level, and diseases such as tuberculosis and leprosy reemerged. This film goes into the poorest neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, tracing the roots of the crisis in detail, back to the irresponsible policies of the international lending financial institutions. Due to the violent riots in 2001 new social organizations and neighborhood groups were formed, demanding that justice be served. Several community groups have charged the state's politicians involved with financial malfeasance, citing fraud, association with criminals, a betrayal of civil duty, and economic subversion. This film reveals that the Argentine population has not stood idly by throughout the devastation of their country's economy.

Martin tries to sort things out with Gaston, but after Andrea decides she's tired of listening to them, she takes off, and before long Gaston does the same to make his appointment with Camila. Camila, however, is looking for more than a story. She's grown tired of her boyfriend, Leopoldo, and is considering an affair with Gaston. Meanwhile, Martin still has not settled the matter concerning the accident, and Leopoldo happens to make the acquaintance of Natalia.

Set in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the film tells the story of director Mario Suarez's quest to make the ultimate tango film. Lonely after his wife (one of the film's stars) has left him; Mario must find the themes that will hold the film together, while simultaneously permitting his musicians and dancers the freedom of expression that is necessary to satisfy the tango-hungry Argentine audience. Things become complicated when Mario falls in love with Elena, a beautiful and talented young dancer who is the girlfriend of the powerful and dangerous Angelo Larroca, an investor in the picture. And Mario's creative vision is challenged by his investors when he plans a scene that recreates Argentina's dark years of political suppression and "disappearances".
