LibQual Results for UST Undergraduate Students

We heard from 159 undgraduate students from a variety of disciplines about how they use the library and what they desire in terms of products and services.

The first graph shows how undergraduate students use library resources either on library premises or electronically as well as the use of non-library information sources like Yahoo and Google.

The Blue bar refers to how often patrons access resources on library premises.
The Red bar refers to how often patrons access library resources through a library webpage.
The Green bar refers to how often patrons use Yahoo, Google or another non-library information gateway.

Perceptions of Library Performance

LibQual data is graphed on a radar chart with the 22 spokes representing the 22 questions asked on the survey.

The questions were divided in three main categories

Affect of Service - These questions revolve around services provided by people in the library; librarians, staff and students.
Information Control - These questions revolve around technology and our electronic resources.
Library as Place - These questions revolve around the library space and environment.

The yellow band represents the gap between the patron's desired level of service and how the library actually performs in the eyes of the patron.  A smaller yellow band signifies a smaller gap between our patron's desired level of service and our actual service.

The blue band represents the gap between the minimum level of desired service and how the library actually performs in the eyes of the patron.  A larger blue band signifies a larger gap between our patron's minimum level of service and our actual service.

Another graph to show our patron's level of desired service in comparison to our patron's perceived level of our service is as follows.

The grey area is the range between the minimum level of expected library service and the highest level of desired service.  The orange area is the actual perceived performance of library service.  A larger area of orange in comparison to the area of grey signifies that the library's actual performance is closer to the patron's level of desired service.
