Interlibrary Loan Assistant I

After training is complete, work with minimal supervision from the Interlibrary Loan Coordinator and Interlibrary Loan Assistant on assigned tasks:

Duties:

  • Download, print, and update interlibrary loan lending requests on computer.
  • Search CLICnet for periodical holdings, book call numbers, and locations.
  • Retrieve books and periodicals from OSF Library stacks. Scan or copy articles, package books and articles for delivery.
  • Retrieve mail from Serials Office and courier delivery from Circulation Department. Sort and process items.
  • Prepare items received from other libraries for UST patrons and take materials to Circulation Desk for patron pickup, or place in courier pouches for delivery to Ireland and Keffer libraries.
  • Send routine requests from UST patrons to other libraries in the MINITEX region and around the U. S., using the ILLiad  Interlibrary Loan management system.
  • Create invoices for photocopies being supplied to other libraries outside Minnesota.
  • Record receipt of checks from other libraries or UST patrons for the payment of interlibrary loan service.
  • Do other tasks, such as filing, photocopying forms, etc.

Required Skills:

  • Detail oriented.
  • Self motivated with the ability to recognize and prioritize tasks that need to be done. Able to work with minimal supervision once trained.
  • Able to adhere to scheduled work hours.
  • Able to retrieve heavy volumes from library stacks.
  • Have good judgment and independent decision making skills.
  • Have basic computer and keyboarding skills.

Days/Times:

  • Flexible hours, 8-16 hours per week.
  • Must be able to schedule all hours from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm.
