Library Work contract
Before you can begin working as a student assistant, you must have a signed contract. Academic year Student Employment contracts are available through Murphy Online. Print out the Student Employment Contract. You will also need to print out a W-4 Form. Be sure to complete all necessary paperwork, i.e. I9 form, etc. Complete your portion of the form and then give it to your supervisor in the library to complete and sign. Then return the signed contract, with the other forms, to the Human Resources Department in order for your timeslip to be initiated.
Student payrates are established by the Human Resources Department of the University. Time Reports are filled out in two-week blocks. Each work-week begins on Sunday and ends on the following Saturday. In general, time reports are due every other Monday, and paychecks for that time period will be available on Friday of the following week. Paychecks will be sent to your Post Office Box in Murray-Herrick Hall. You may arrange for direct deposit into your bank account if you wish. Be sure to complete the appropriate forms if this is what you would like. If you have any questions regarding your paycheck, speak to your supervisor or call the Payroll Department at 962-6513. If you wish to visit the Payroll Office it is located in Rm 221, Aquinas Hall.

At the end of each two-week pay period, total your hours and enter the amount.
Your supervisor will then verify your hours, write in the total again, sign and submit it to the Library Office where it will be processed for Payroll. Time reports will not be CORRECTED or CHANGED by the Library Office personnel. Incomplete or inaccurate time reports will be returned to you or your supervisor for correction when necessary. Remember, it is important that you are accurate in recording your hours and that you sign your time report. If you forget these things, it may cause delays in processing your timeslip that may in turn affect timely delivery of your paycheck.

Besides the Student Employment Contract that you received from the Student Financial Services department, you may be given a Library Work Contract by your supervisor. Each department of the library has its own contract with specific job expectations and policies, and includes the statement that the Library reserves the right to terminate employment for unsatisfactory job performance. You may be be asked to sign this contract, stating that you have read and agree to fulfill the terms of employment.
