UST Libraries Book Selection

Materials for the libraries' collections are selected principally by the library staff and faculty.  We encourage suggestions for purchase from anyone. Librarians serve as liaisons (liaison librarians) with academic departments, helping to identify needs and working directly with faculty. Selectors choose materials based on requirements of the curriculum and other needs of the users, and on the perceived quality and authority of the content. See the Collection Development Policy for more information regarding book selection.

As an aid in book selection, CHOICE review cards are distributed to academic departments on a regular basis.  These reviews are available from CHOICE, a monthly review journal which evaluates newly published academic titles.  Recently, CHOICE has included reviews for academic web sites as a part of this service.  Additional resources can be found under Tools for Selectors.

Students are encouraged to submit requests for materials in all formats, and a majority of student requests are ordered.
