Reference Round Table (REFRT)
Mission and Objectives
Mission:
The Reference Round Table serves as a forum to deal with topics that impact all of the UST Libraries reference departments. It is open to all UST reference librarians.
Specific policy, instruction and service objectives:
- Discussing current topics and best practices in library and information literacy instruction.
- Exploring the feasibility of providing new services like virtual reference services, electronic readings and electronic document delivery.
- Developing and maintaining general reference print and web documentation.
- Comparing reference and instruction policies across libraries.
- Being a single point of contact for communication with other UST departments and CLIC.
Specific collection management objectives:
- Gathering and analyzing data on the use and content of the UST Libraries' general reference collections in both print and electronic formats.
- Maintaining an appropriate balance between print and electronic formats, and between access and ownership of reference materials.
- Monitoring reference budget allocations and recommending revisons in light of current curricular needs and future program changes.
- Building consensus between reference library staffs on the most appropriate general reference materials to be collected by the UST Libraries.
