Information Commons at a glance:

The IRT Learning Center and Libraries have combined to offer a single point of service for research and computer application support -- the Information Commons. (see the bulletin article for more information)

The Information Commons opened officially on September 5th.

St Paul Information Commons (O’Shaughnessy Frey Library)

  • Monday-Thursday: 7:30 am - midnight
  • Friday:   7:30 am - 8 pm
  • Saturday: 10 am - 6 pm
  • Sunday: 12 noon – midnight

Services include:

  • Computer Assistance - Trained student staff on the OSF lower levels tol assist you with your technology questions. 
  • Roamers” - Trained student staff roam the lower levels, making themselves available to you as you work and have questions.   Watch for their IRT name badges!
  • Reference Assistance - Reference Librarians present on both the first and lower levels to help you with your research.
  • Disk recovery - If you have an unreadable document on a disk, bring the disk to the lower level service desk where we will try to fix the problem and retrieve your document.
  • Classroom technology Pick-Up - Foley front desk services moved. If you need to pick up portable technology (laptop, LCD projector, camera, slide projector) visit us now at the Reserves desk on OSF first floor.
  • Test Scanning - The bubble test scanner located in the Learning Center moved behind the circulation desk on the main floor of the library.
  • More group rooms —with and without technology.
    Group study rooms now available:
    • Level 3: Rooms 312A, 312B, 321, 322
    • Level 4: Rooms 403, 405, 421, 422    
  • Wireless Access - Wireless access is available throughout the library.  Click here for O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center sublevel, first-level and first-floor signal strengths.  For OSF second-, third- and fourth-floor signal strengths, click here.  Visit the Information Resources and Technologies Web site to get instructions on how to connect to wireless.
