Women's Convention Special Grant Opportunity

The Luann Dummer Center for Women is pleased to offer a special grant opportunity to students, faculty and/or staff to attend the Women's Convention in Detroit, October 27-29, 2017.

Tommies at the Women's March, Washington, D.C.

Students will receive up to $500 toward their registration fee, transportation, and accommodation. Faculty and staff will receive $700 toward their registration fee, transportation, and accommodation, due to higher registration costs. We encourage attendees to share rooms and participate in student/faculty/staff collaboration efforts. Students may consider this either as a way to develop their feminist leadership in activism or as research on women's movement/activism. Likewise, faculty who are doing research on feminist activism or developing brave-space pedagogy could attend the Convention to push their project forward. Additionally, a staff person may have programming ideas and attending the Convention with students could be key to their organizing efforts. These are just some examples of how community members might use this opportunity. The LDCW is available to help students make connections with professors and staff for their collaborative work.

We welcome all proposals. Please state a specific outcome in mind and with clear indication as to how our financial support for your attendance would further the mission of the Luann Dummer Center for Women. Recipients will be invited to share their experiences at an upcoming event in the LDCW.

Please note that we are no longer accepting applications. We will notify recipients the first week of October. Questions? Please e-mail womenscntr@stthomas.edu. Thank you.
