Career Opportunities

Employers nationwide have embraced the students and graduates from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. Our graduates have found success in law firms of all sizes. They have clerked at the U.S. Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court and the Minnesota Supreme Court. They work in corporations and private businesses, and for academic institutions and religious organizations. Furthermore, each year, nearly 20 percent of our graduates work for government offices and public interest organizations.

The career success of our graduates is no accident. Over the course of three years, our Career and Professional Development staff works with each student to help identify the career plan that best fits his or her talents and interests. They develop and refine job-search strategies and connect students with potential employers. Resources are readily accessible both online and in the comprehensive Career and Professional Development Resource Center. Employers come to campus to interview students in the spring and fall.

Our students participate in public interest career fairs and conferences. Throughout the year, the Office of Career and Professional Development offers extensive programming and job postings to help students find their niche in the law.

The class of 2007 made amazing inroads with a wide variety of government offices. Over 12 percent of 2007 graduates secured positions at all levels of government.
