The University of St. Thomas School of Law would like to congratulate Dr. Artika Tyner, Director of the Office of Diversity, on her Outstanding Commitment Award from the UST Student Diversity and Inclusion Services for her work in 2012-2013.
Dr. Tyner has worked tirelessly to increase diversity not only in the St. Thomas community, but also in the legal profession as a whole.
Through her position as Director of the Office of Diversity, Tyner meets with students and alumni on a regular basis to provide career coaching, assistance and guidance. Over the past year she has been involved with a variety of programs and events that aim to increase cultural competency and diversity in the legal community.
Tyner presented at the Twin Cities Diversity in Practice Dean’s Roundtable last October and at the National Black Pre-law Conference in November. In January, she spoke at the Minnesota Justice Foundation’s Diversity Lecture on Race and the Law. This spring she spoke at the ABA Young Lawyers Division Spring Conference about the impact of the Supreme Court’s decision in Fisher v. Texas on the future of diversity.
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion Services is incredibly proud of all the work and dedication Dr. Tyner has shown to diversity in the profession and congratulates her on this earned achievement.
