Professional Identity Symposium

"The Formation of an Ethical Professional Identity” symposium to be held February 2

The University of St. Thomas Law Journal and the Holloran Center for Ethical Leadership in the Professions will hold a public symposium: “The Formation of an Ethical Professional Identity” on Saturday, February 2 from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the University of St. Thomas School of Law in downtown Minneapolis.

Recent high-profile, ethical failures in many professions have heightened concern across the professions about how to assure an ethical professional identity among both students and practicing professionals.

The symposium will be held in Room 244 of the law school building located at 1000 LaSalle Avenue.  Beginning with a continental breakfast and registration from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. the symposium will include:

  • Professor Mickey Bebeau, the University of Minnesota (health professions)
  • Dr. Anne Colby, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching (law)
  • Professor Gary Downey, Virginia Tech University (engineering)
  • Dr. Charles Foster, Carnegie Foundation and emeritus professor of religion and education at Emory University (theology)
  • Professor Neil Hamilton, University of St. Thomas (law and the professorate)
  • Dr. David Leach, Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (medicine)
  • Professor Nick Steneck, University of Michigan and consultant to the Office of Research Integrity (sciences).
