Lyman Johnson

University of St. Thomas School of Law announces key new hire

University of St. Thomas School of Law Dean Thomas Mengler announced that Lyman Johnson will join the University of St. Thomas School of Law faculty.  Johnson has been appointed the Laurence and Jean LeJeune Distinguished Chair in Law.  In coming academic years, Professor Johnson will be spending one semester each year at the School of Law while maintaining one semester at the Washington and Lee University School of Law where he serves as the Robert O. Bentley Professor of Law.

Johnson is an expert in Business Law, Corporate Law, Mergers, Acquisitions and Hostile Takeovers, and Securities Law.  He teaches Corporate Law, Business Planning, Corporate Finance and Securities and Regulations.  His work in corporate and fiduciary responsibility is widely regarded across disciplines.  Johnson earned his B.A. at Carleton College where he graduated magna cum laude and was Phi Beta Kappa.  He then went on to the University of Minnesota Law School where he graduated magna cum laude.  After graduating Johnson practiced in Minnesota as an associate and then partner at Stacker & Ravich.  (later Robins, Ciresi & Kaplan).  He served as a professor at the William and Mitchell College of Law before moving to the Washington and Lee University School of Law.

Johnson is the latest in a string of strong hires for the University of St. Thomas School of Law.  In the past year five new faculty members have joined the School of Law in addition to Johnson.  During the 2006-2007 academic year Johnson was a visiting professor at the School of Law.
