Visions of Women’s Leadership Conference

The University of St. Thomas School of Law will host “Visions of Women’s Leadership” on October 24 at the Minneapolis campus of the University of St. Thomas.  Visions of Women's Leadership will explore the contributions of women in both the legal and business fields and address the need for ethical leadership and gender equity in the workplace.  Jill Wine-Banks and Mary Pawlenty are scheduled as keynote speakers, along with two separate panels of leaders in the legal and business community.

Mary Pawlenty was a Minnesota District Court Judge in the First Judicial District.  Prior to becoming a judge, she was a partner with the law firm of Rider, Bennett, Egan and Arundel.  As the First Lady of the State of Minnesota she has taken on three key initiatives including the Military Family Care Initiative, the Heart Health Initiative, and Civics Education for Children.

Jill Wine-Banks is currently the Chief Officer for Education To Careers in the Chicago Public Schools.  In her pioneering career she has served as a Watergate prosecutor, general counsel to the Army and executive director of the American Bar Association.  Jill Wine-Banks previously spoke at the School of Law as part of the Watergate Revisited forum.

The event will begin with registration at the School of Law building from 8 to 8:30 a.m.  Registration is free, but participants are asked to R.S.V.P. by filling out the form at www.stthomas.edu/law/rsvp .   For more information, call the Thomas E. The first two days of the conference will focus on the concept of the "feminine genius" and women's role in pursuing social justice.
