Friday, August 24 the University of St. Thomas welcomed the class of 2010 with a day long introduction to the School of Law. Starting at 8:45 a.m. in the Schulze Grand Atrium the students were presented by Director of Admissions Cari Haaland and welcomed by representatives of many campus organizations and the Minnesota legal community. Professor Elizabeth Schiltz gave this year’s speech on the mission and vision of the School of Law.
The keynote speaker for the day was Justice Lorie S. Gildea of the Minnesota Supreme Court. In her remarks, Justice Gildea spoke to students about the commitment and high standards of the legal profession as well as providing them with professional advice as they take this next step toward joining the legal profession.
The class of 2010 is the University of St. Thomas’s largest class to date with 164 students. It was also the largest application pool to date, counter to a national trend of declining law school applications. "We are very pleased with the make up of this class," Haaland commented. "This class has a great academic profile, they are among our most ethnically diverse and our most regionally diverse. "They will enrich our community and contribute to our mission in profound ways."
The complete profile of the class can be found here.
Monday, August 27 marked the first day of classes for all School of Law Students.
